There will be three examinations administered during the
classroom portion of the course. The first two examinations will be "open-book
examinations" or exams where students are free to utilize all the notes and materials
at their disposal to complete the examinations. These examinations are designed to test
the students acquisition and grasp of brewing science and their resulting ability to
use this information in brewing related problem solving exercises. Students can use texts, supplemental materials and their notes as they prepare for this examination. Each of these exams will be delivered via the web site on a Friday and will be due on the Monday of the following week. Examinations may be returned by fax or snail-mail, but must be postmarked by midnight of the following Monday. The last examination will be administered during the final week of the course when students are in residence at the Guild brewery, laboratory and classrooms. The examination will be administered on the Friday morning of the last day of the course and will follow a Thursday afternoon review session. This examination will be comprehensive of all material in the course. |
